Local Hero Comes home to Fireworks and Parade!

Telluride’s golden boy or should I say Silver boy is returning to Telluride in style. In honor of USA snowboard Olympian Gus Kenworthy’s Silver Medal triumph the Town of Telluride will be holding a celebration on Friday March 21st.

For the weeks surrounding Sochi local Telluride businesses have placed posters of Kenworthy in their windows to honor their native athlete, and the upcoming events are a tribute to the local pride. This is the first Winter Olympian Telluride has produced and the town is rallying to congratulate him with full schedule of events.

Beginning at 5:30pm in Telluride Town Park Telluride locals and visitors alike will join in on a parade down Main Street. Ending at Telluride Court House where a special dedication and speeches will begin. Telluride and Mountain Village mayors will be present and the Telluride Ski Resort will make a special dedication in Kenworthy’s honor.

If you’ve ever wanted to meet an Olympian now is your chance. Kenworthy will begin signing autographs, and posing for photographs. Music and hot chocolate will be on hand. The night will be capped off with a firework display on Main Street. It will be a big celebration. Come one, come all. We’ll be there!!!
