Make 2012 a ‘Heli-of-a-year’ at The Hotel Telluride

The New Years is the perfect time to reflect on the past year. Did I spend enough time doing the things that make life important? Did I do enough that made me feel alive? What can I do to make 2012 the best year yet to be had?

The easy answers to these questions can be found during your ski trip to Telluride, but be sure not to limit your options. Heli-skiing Silverton Ski Mountain is one of the closest experiences to finding your ‘Ski Nirvana' that exists. All thrills, and no frills- Silverton Ski Mountain provides a safe, affordable, and exhilarating experience that will full fill your need for adrenaline rushes in 2012- and there is not much out there that is more soulful than connecting with 13,000 foot peaks and untracked powder.

Silverton Mountain is about as close to the purest skiing experience one can find today – an epic mountain, bountiful snowfall (the deep and light Colorado kind!), and none of the distractions of other ski areas (crowds!). Silverton Ski Mountain is only a stone throw from Telluride as the crow flies, but a lovely 2-hour drive over Red Mountain Pass.

Silverton Heli-sking Options:

$999 Heli Day (per person) - Includes 6 heli runs with more than 22,000 acres of ski permit terrain. Silverton has chairlift accessed backup skiing available at no extra charge if the trip is cancelled once underway (rarely happens due to weather etc).
Private Ship - The ultimate memorable heli ski experience is the private ship. Just you, your friends and the heli! Without other groups using the helicopter you have the freedom to ski as many runs as possible, all day long. $8,000 on a Mon-Weds or $10,000 on Thurs-Sun gets you 2 hours of Hobbs flight time (additional flight time is $4,000/hr). The 2 hours of Hobbs time means you only pay when the heli experiences lift, not while spinning on the ground. 2 Hobbs hours is a lot of heli time as it only takes a few minutes to get from the bottom of a run to the peak.
Heli Transport - Skiers can also be picked up and transported from Telluride (or anywhere else) and brought to Silverton. Heli transport from Telluride Regional Airport to Silverton Mountain and back is $1,000 per group of 4.

Silverton Heli is ideal for those who may be looking for a new or different experience. Highly challenging terrain makes Silverton Heli unique and provides a great opportunity for expert and advanced skiers and boarders to test their limits. For moderate ability skiers and riders, less consequential lower angle terrain is available when a group of four clients, of equal skill level, book together (so they don’t slow down faster paced skiers).
