Telluride Aids Benefit Fashion Show Takes Telluride by Storm

Each Winter one of the biggest and brightest weeks of the season is without a doubt Telluride Gay Ski Week. This year was no exception. Appropriately timed to occur during Gay Ski Week, the Telluride AIDs Benefit Organization hosts a variety of events.

The NPO was founded for a Telluride local- Robert Presley- and has since been an event in memorium of the beloved departed fashion designer who lost his life to AIDs over a decade ago. Founded in 1994, the Telluride AIDs Benefit now works with several AIDs organizations in Colorado, the United States and South Africa.

This past weekend’s Fashion Show Gala was a roaring success which over the course of its two day run raised over $50,000 which will go towards various projects including AIDs education, prevention and clinics. TAB pays year round for anonymous HIV testing at the Telluride Medical Center.

The Fashion Show Gala may have had a humble start but in recent years couture designers like Cole Hann, Dolce and Gabana, and Levi’s have graced the stage at the Mountain Village Conference Center. The show is unlike a typical fashion show, it is infused with dance, music and theatrics. Which mirror the vibrancy of the clothes the models wear. All models and participants are volunteers, which is impressive considering the quality of talent.

Gay Ski Week and the Telluride AIDS Benefit Fashion Show both occur at the beginning of February each year. Join us next year, and don’t forget to stay at The Hotel Telluride. Photos were taken by our own Reservations/Sales Coordinator, Riley Arthur.
